SHARING THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA EVENT

The Sons Of The American Revolution will be reading the Declaration of Independence precisely at 3:00 pm along with Americans across this great country!

About “Sharing the Spirit of America” – July 8, 2026 The premise of ‘Sharing the Spirit of America’ is pretty simple; it is the simultaneous reading of the Declaration of Independence across the country, where Americas are reading the document ‘together’ at the ‘same’ time. Just as the Declaration of Independence was read to the people for the first time on July 8, 1776, now, 250-years later, Americans in all 50 States, 5 Territories, DC, and US Minor Outlying Islands will read the Declaration of Independence ‘together’.

The American spirit, principles, and values memorialized in the Declaration of Independence 250- years ago continue to hold true today. The “self evident” “truths”, then, “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” are valid today, as are the personal and collective responsibilities we share in protecting and perpetuating these values. With a start time of 3 pm (PT), Wednesday, July 8, 2026 (to commemorate the first public reading), people in communities across America (the Caribbean across North America to the western edge of the Pacific) will begin reading the Declaration of Independence.

Unlike the extent of the Colonies in 1776, today, America spans about 9,500-miles from one extreme to the other. Even though the United States is spread across thousands of miles and ten different time zones, all of us in America may read the Declaration of Independence ‘together’, at the ‘same’ time. The scheduled reading time correlates to the relative time in each portion of America, based on its own timekeeping.

The time conversions note the corresponding local time commensurate with 6 pm (EDT). Given the nature of time and varying time zones, at these times, we would all be reading the Declaration of Independence ‘together’, despite our differing and widely separated locations.

The intent is to have Americans, across the country reading the Declaration Independence ‘together’. Using the time conversions noted, it shows that Americans across the country can do it together (on the same day as it was read 250 years ago). This is a great unifying program for all Americans, wherever we are. And it certainly includes and links us to the 250th!

PTSD Awareness Day

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that affects many veterans—and civilians as well. PTSD can develop after someone experiences or witnesses a traumatic event, such as combat, training accidents, or military sexual trauma. Although the condition is now widely recognized, it was not always well understood by the medical or military communities.

In the aftermath of World War II, the Vietnam War, and other major conflicts, veterans often exhibited symptoms we now associate with PTSD, but at the time, these were referred to as "shell shock" or "combat fatigue." Department of Defense press releases and historical reviews have acknowledged these early cases as important steps in recognizing and understanding PTSD. Ongoing research continues to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and support for those suffering from the psychological wounds of war.

Blue Star Mothers of America, Spanish Springs Chapter NV5

The Blue Star Mothers of Spanish Springs will be at the memorial again as part of their Care Package Fundraising Campaign for 2025 at the memorial, and they need your support!

 

All funds raised at this event will be used to prepare Care Packages for Nevada's currently deployed servicemen and women.

 Stop by the memorial to help them reach their goal!

**Goals**

They are looking to send over 200 Care Packages

The estimated shipping costs will be between $3,500 and $4,500.

They are seeking donations for the contents of the boxes.
